(Adversarial Prompting) Strategic Gaming & Trade Wars: a Red-Teaming Drill (Adversarial Prompting)
Core mission: break the naïve “trade is always mutually beneficial” assumption and replace it with a survival logic of strategic gaming: when rules become re-politicized, you must anticipate opponents, manage narratives, and endure negative-sum trade-offs.
You are not a student—you are a 2026 policy actor. When called, you have 60 seconds to issue a statement using the 3-path model, and make it sound like real policy using Hill Ch.6 concepts.
(Hill Ch.6)? Participation rubric: Do you cite the article’s lens? Is your logic coherent? Does it fit the country’s factor endowments (Hill Ch.6)?
This week is not about memorizing definitions. Use the article’s 3-path lens to re-read Hill’s trade theory: the same “tariff” can be driven by Game (forcing concessions), Emotion (narratives and domestic politics), or Value (long-term costs and industrial structure).
Treat Hill Ch.6 as your economic “chassis”, and the 3-path model as your “steering wheel” for reality.
The logic behind gains from trade: not “who is better”, but different opportunity costs and specialization. In the 3-path lens, this anchors the Value path (long-run total surplus).
Scale economies, first-mover advantages, and clusters create path dependence in market outcomes. This becomes a theoretical doorway for government intervention.
In oligopolies and critical technologies, tariffs/subsidies/export controls may aim less at efficiency and more at “hurting the opponent.” This maps to the Game path.
The point of this episode is not office drama—it is the “reconstruction of comparative advantage” and “complementarity.” When manufacturing and strategy teams look down on each other, deals are often decided by who can re-encode value convincingly.
1) Field vs Office debate: the “field” claims HQ doesn’t understand the work; HQ replies: without strategy/sales, field efforts don’t convert into revenue. This mirrors the global smile curve.
2) “Selling the slippers”: he sells not the function of slippers, but the missing “recognition.” This is advanced product differentiation: closing a deal with meaning, not specs.
Treat EP4 as a “micro trade war”: actors are not maximizing GDP—they are maximizing position and narrative power. Use the 3-path lens to annotate:
When your team proposes a sanction/rule (Round 1), ask: are you selling “policy function” or “symbolic meaning”? Which path will the opponent use to counter?
Differences in relative opportunity costs. It explains possible gains from trade, but does not guarantee “always beneficial”.
Manufacturing matters, but higher value often sits in R&D, branding, and channels. Ask: where are you on the curve?
A game response strategy: predictable retaliation sustains deterrence, but can also spiral escalation.
Interpretations shape actions, actions reshape outcomes; strategy is a co-evolving process.
This week’s AI skill is Adversarial Prompting: stop using AI as an “answer machine” and use it as an opponent red team. Force it to attack your blind spots and push you into second- and third-order reasoning.
分組:USA(技術霸權)、China(製造霸權)、EU(規制霸權)、ASEAN(新興市場/搖擺州)。
Scenario: It is 2026: global stagnation, protectionism everywhere.
Teams: USA (tech hegemony), China (manufacturing hegemony), EU (regulatory hegemony), ASEAN (swing bloc/emerging markets).
TASK 1|Round 1 (Attack) — Design Your First Strike
In ≤6 lines, specify: your team (USA/China/EU/ASEAN), the target, the instrument (tariff/quota/subsidy/export control/carbon tax/standards), your objective, and the opponent’s expected response (game logic).
TASK 2|Round 2 (Analysis) — 3-Path Analysis + Red Team Simulation
Before countering, do two things:
(1) Use AI to decompose the opponent’s move into the 3 paths (Game/Emotion/Value).
(2) Feed your Attack to AI and force it to role-play the opponent’s hawks, generating 3 tit-for-tat retaliation options.
You may be pulled into a “Shadow Cabinet interrogation.” Be ready to state: which path you choose, where you want the opponent to concede, and how Hill Ch.6 makes your response more than emotional venting.
When “national security” justifies export controls, is it primarily Emotion, Game, or Value? Explain your criterion.
Use Hill Ch.6 comparative advantage to describe a case where the Value path supports free trade; then give a case where the Game path overrides it.
Package your War Room outputs into a traceable learning record: Round 1 attack draft, Round 2 3-path analysis, red-team simulation output, and your reflection. Optionally attach Log 2 (exported chat file) as evidence.
Tip: large files may be uploaded via a cloud link automatically.
